An ‘informal meeting’ takes place each year prior to the official Mayor Making ceremony in order to establish who will be the Mayor and Chairman of the Council – and their Deputy, for the coming year.

Last Tuesday 17th April, I was elected Mayor & Chairman for the coming year and my deputy was also elected. That will be former Mayor Cllr Shane Bartlett. He is also a District and County Cllr so I know I will have great support this year!

I’ve been a Cllr for 3 years and before that I worked closely with the Town Clerk whilst in my role as Wimborne BID Operations Manager.

This year is something totally new for me, so whilst I’m a little nervous (who wouldn’t be), I am also really excited.

So this week has mainly been meeting with the office to understand how it all works, synchronising diaries and putting some key future dates in the diary.  I have also needed to hand over the work relating to my role as Chairman of the Resources Committee to the new Chairman, Cllr Carole Chedgy.

So far, so good, I think it’s going to be a good year.
