In St Peters

The Dorset Legal Service took place on Sunday 28th October.  It was hosted by the Dorset High Sheriff Jacqueline Speck.  The church service took place in St Peter’s church on Dorchester High Street which was well attended by many Mayors from around the County.  But this service was different to the Mayor’s Civic Services that happen throughout the year.  This one also had High Sheriff’s from other County’s attending – they have the most wonderful blue velvet outfits!

With the High Sheriff

The role is an ancient one steeped in history, to find out more, click here. There were also senior Police officers present and many ‘wigged’ judges, including Mr Justice Dingemans who has presided over many high profile cases.  Afterwards refreshments were served in the Shire Hall Museum (Tolpuddle Martyrs were tried here)!  Mr Dingemans thanked the High Sheriff for her services to the Justice system so far this year.
