From all the towns in all of England, Wimborne Minster found itself on a shortlist of just 38 towns for the Great British High Street awards! The awards are about more than just the actual High Street of course. The judges are looking for community spirit, tidiness, facilities, attractions, variety, space etc. Of course we know we have it all but the mission was to get the news out there!
The BID were instrumental in submitting the details and getting the judges onto the Square last Thursday for a tour.
After the Town Crier officially welcomed them, we all set off on a little walkabout, stopping in on the Minster, Priest’s House Museum, the Allendale Centre and into a few shops, whilst walking through Willow Walk and the decorated underpass.
They ended up in Allendale House for tea and biscuits before heading off without giving anything away!
30% of the vote is from the public! All you have to do is go on to your facebook or Twitter and put in a sentence that include #myhighstreet and #gbhswimborne.
